The 2018 China International Big Data Industry Expo was grandly opened in Guiyang, Guizhou province on May 26, 2018. Visiting the scene crowded, 5G has become a hot topic again. The Beijing Key Laboratory of Network System Architecture and Convrgence, Prof. Luhan Wang, simulated the driving of the cab in Guiyang, while the test experimental car was driving in GUI ‘an new district dozens of kilometers away. 5G communication technology was used to complete the operation of the vehicle across time and space, which aroused great expectations of the practical application of 5G autonomous driving technology.
Prof. Wang explained 5G autonomous driving technology in remote control of vehicles. 5G autonomous driving technology makes use of 5G’s transmission characteristics of large bandwidth and low delay to achieve stable and accurate remote control. Compared with unmanned driving, it has the characteristics of low cost, strong reliability, etc., and can take the lead in standardized application of mine cars and special vehicles in harsh environment. It has a wide range of uses in such scenarios as automatic parking and car-sharing service.
